Bridgewater State Captures NEWLA Tournament Title with 19-5 Win
The Bridgewater State College women’s lacrosse team captured the 2008 New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) Tournament championship as the top-seeded Bears knocked off second-seeded Castleton State College, 19-5, this afternoon in Bridgewater.
NEWLA Weekly Honors for May 5, 2008
Shannon Manning and Meghan Griffin led Bridgewater to the NEWLA title earning NEWLA Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors. Manning scored 8 goals with five assists tournament while Griffin registered 23 saves and posted a 6.50 goals against average in the two contests.
2008 NEWLA All-Conference Teams Announced
The New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance has announced its post-season honors. In a vote by the conference coaches, Bridgewater State sophomore midfielder Shannon Manning was named NEWLA Offensive Player of the Year. Manning led the conference in draw controls and caused turnovers and points during league play scoring 18 times with 29 assists.

Bridgewater State Chosen as Preseason League Favorite
Bridgewater State, which returns to the NEWLA after playing as an independent for two seasons, was selected as the women’s lacrosse preseason favorite of the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches.
