Manning scored 5 goals and added an assist as the Bears opened the 2008 campaign with a 16-12 victory over the University of New England down in West Palm Beach, Florida. Manning, who led the Bears with 3 draw controls, also netted the game-winning goal as she broke a 9-9 tie with her fourth marker of the day midway through the second half. In 16 games as a freshman last season, Manning led the Bears with 48 goals and 59 points.

Meghan Griffin, Bridgewater St.
(Sophomore, Goalie - Billerica, MA)
Making her first appearance in a BSC uniform, Griffin turned aside 8 shots and led all players with 6 ground balls controlled as she backstopped the Bears to a season-opening 16-12 victory over the University of New England down in West Palm Beach, Florida. Griffin faced 32 shots in the game.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Marie VanDerKar, Castleton
(Fr., Midfield - Manchester, VT)
In her first collegiate game, VanDerKar scored a team-high four goals on seven shots in Castleton's loss to Emerson. The freshman midfielder also caused five turnovers and had one ground ball.
