NEWLA Weekly Honors for March 30, 2009

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Shannon Manning, Bridgewater State
College
(Jr., Midfield - Framingham, MA)
Manning tallied 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points in a 3-0
week for the Bears. Manning also notched 21 ground balls, 11 caused
turnovers and five draw controls. In BSC's 18-12 win over
Framingham State, Manning registered seven goals and three assists
along with seven ground balls, three draw controls and three caused
turnovers. She added four goals and an assist as well as nine
ground balls in a 22-12 victory over Mount Holyoke and capped off
the week with a two goal, four assist performance in the conference
victory over Elms.
Brittany Jamieson, Worcester State
(Jr., Attack - Foxboro, MA)
Jamieson notched 11 points in a 2-0 week for the Lancers. The
junior posted a game-best six goals with a helper in a 16-14 2OT
victory over Fitchburg State which included the game-winner and an
extra insurance tally in the closing minutes of the triumph. In a
15-9 win over Rhode Island College she registered two goals and two
assists.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kim Vail, Worcester State
(Jr., D - W. Newbury, MA)
In a 2-0 week for Worcester State, Vail picked up seven ground
balls while also causing six turnovers. In an double overtime 16-14
conference victory over Fitchburg State, the junior caused four
miscues and grabbed five ground balls.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Amanda Burns, Fitchburg
State
(Fr, M - Weymouth, Mass.)
In a 1-1 week for the Falcons, Burns registered 11 points on 11
goals, while picking up 11 groundballs, nine draw controls and
three caused turnovers. She led the Falcons with six goals in a
18-5 victory over St. Joseph's College (CT).
