NEWLA Weekly Honors for April 13, 2009

Co-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Rachel Dionne, Westfield State
(Sophomore, Midfield - Feeding Hills, Mass.)
In two games, Dionne tallied 9 goals, 4 assists for 13 points with
12 groundballs, five draw controls and four caused turnovers. The
sophomore tallied 5 goals and 3 assists in 20-17 overtime victory
over Fitchburg State. She scored the biggest goal of the game in
that contest with 13 seconds remaining in regulation to send the
game into OT.
Tammy Mullen, Becker College
(SO., M - Pottstown, PA)
Mullen scored 21 goals and 7 assists during the past week. In a
NEWLA victory over Thomas, the sophomore scored six times in the
first 12 minutes of play. Mullen added nine goals in a victory over
St. Joseph's (Conn.)
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kim Vail, Worcester State
(Jr., D - W. Newbury, MA)
Vail was a force defensively this week as she picked up 18 ground
balls while causing eight miscues to help lead the Lancers to a 2-1
week. Vail posted highs of eight ground balls and three caused
turnovers in a 15-7 setback to Emerson. Vail also added three goals
as well.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Morgan Hazen, Becker College
(FR., M - Woodstock, VT)
Morgan had a breakout week with 18 points for the Hawks scoring 12
goals and adding 6 assists in three games. Morgan's 12 goals came
on just 17 shots.
