OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Dionne, Westfield
State
(Junior, Midfield - Feeding Hills, Mass.)
Dionne scored 13 goals with seven assist for 20 points in a 3-0
week for Westfield. The junior midfielder also added 11 ground
balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers. Dionne had
five goals, two assists and four ground balls in big 18-17 overtime
victory over Castleton State. She scored the game-tying goal with
less than three minutes to play in regulation to send the game into
overtime and scored the game-tying goal in overtime with Westfield
trailing 17-16.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Meghan Griffin, Bridgewater
State
(Senior, Goaltender - Billerica, MA)
Griffin backstopped the Bears to a perfect 3-0 week as she
recorded three wins between the pipes. Griffin made 28 saves during
the week and posted an 8.46 goals against average. She was at her
best in a 15-13 win over MIT as she made a season-high 17 saves.
Griffin also allowed just five goals and turned aside ten shots in
BSC's 23-9 NEWLA triumph over Worcester State. In Bridgewater's
22-2 Alliance victory over Becker, Griffin did not allow a goal and
made one save, and also netted her first goal of the season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ari Colella, Westfield
State
(Freshman, Attack - Franklin, Mass.)
In a 3-0 week for Westfield, Colella scored 9 goals with 2 assists
for 11 points while collecting four ground balls and winning three
draw controls. Thre freshman attacker had five goals and one assist
in 27-15 victory over Norwich. Colella scored two goals in big
18-17 overtime win over Castleton State and added two goals and one
assist in 22-9 win at Becker College.
