DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Meghan Griffin, Bridgewater State
College
(Senior, Goaltender - Billerica, MA)
Griffin was solid between the pipes for the Bears' during their
NEWLA Tournament title run last week as she posted a 2-0 record
with 24 saves, a 10.00 goals against average and a .545 save
percentage to go along with six ground balls. Griffin turned aside
12 shots in BSC's 16-11 semifinal win over Fitchburg State. She
also made 12 saves in the Bears' 21-9 championship game victory
over Castleton. Fitchburg and Castleton were just 4-for-19 in free
position attempts against Griffin during the tournament.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shannon Manning, Bridgewater State
College
(Senior, Midfield - Framingham, MA)
Manning tallied 12 points on nine goals and three assists during
the Bears' NEWLA Tournament championship run. She also notched 11
draw controls and three ground balls in the two games. Manning
registered two goals, three assists and five draws in a 16-11
semifinal win over Fitchburg State. She capped off the week with a
seven-goal performance to go along with six draws and a pair of
ground balls in a 21-9 championship game victory over Castleton.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ari Colella, Westfield State
(Freshman, Midfield - Franklin, Mass.)
Colella tallied three goals, one assist, two draw controls and two
ground balls in 18-17 NEWLA tournament semifinal setback to
Castleton.
