Women's Lacrosse: Daniels' Late Goal Lifts Norwich Past Westfield State, 15-14

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Ally Daniels scored seven goals, including the game-winning tally with one second to play in the second half, as the Norwich University women's lacrosse team defeated Westfield State, 15-14, on Thursday evening.
It marked the third straight victory for the Cadets, who improve to 3-1 overall. The Owls, meanwhile, fall to 1-3 on the season.
Westfield State seized control of the game early on as the Owls jumped out to an 8-3 lead. Norwich responded by scoring five unanswered goals over the final 11:28 of first half to tie the score 8-8 at intermission.
The teams traded goals for most of the second half until Norwich inched ahead, 14-12, at the 3:42 mark. Westfield State tied the score at 14-14 with a pair of goals in the span of 39 seconds late in the second stanza.
Daniels delivered the game-winner just moments later, as the sophomore scored the game winner just before the final horn sounded.
Chelsea Martin chipped in three goals and three assists for the Cadets, while Allyson Allen and Katie Magnus each tallied two goals apiece. Jessica Allmer rounded out the scoring for NU with one goal.
Norwich goalkeeper Erin McGaffigan played outstanding for the Cadets throughout the game, as she came up with nine spectacular saves and made several impressive clears.
Ally Brown led the Owls with six goals, while and Rachel Dionne and Laura Chiricosta each scored three goals apiece.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, March 29, when the Cadets travels to West Hartford, Conn., to play GNAC foe St. Joseph (Conn.).
