Becker College to Join NEWLA in 2008

The New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance will be adding another member beginning in the spring of 2008. Becker College's application for membership into the NEWLA was approved by the member athletic directors at their most recent meeting.

"We are very excited about joining the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance and being associated with the quality of schools representing the conference," said Becker Dean of Students Ken Cameron.

Becker, which will sponsor a varsity program for the first time next season, will join the league in the spring of 2008. The addition of women's lacrosse as a varsity sport at Becker will coincide with an artificial turf field which is scheduled for completion by August 2007.

Founded in the Fall of 1998, the NEWLA is a single sport conference comprised of NCAA Division-III institutions in New England. They are Becker College, Bridgewater State College, Castleton State College, Elms College, Emerson College, Fitchburg State College, Lasell College, Norwich University, Thomas College, Western New England College and Worcester State College.
